5 tried and true products to manage thinning hair

Thinning hair- albeit a touchy topic. But really, it happens to the best of us. In this series, we cover the ways and means through which you can still look and feel your best. Today, we'll be exploring the products that you may want to add to your grooming routine, from cleansing, styling to regrowth products!

Dry Shampoo

If you haven't heard this by now, we're telling you again: shampooing daily is NOT good for your scalp. Shampooing it daily strips your scalp and hair of its natural oils, and may cause itching, dryness and even be the cause of an oily scalp, as it tries to compensate for the dryness.

However, there are just some days where you need your hair to feel clean and fluffy to the touch. Dry shampoo- he's your guy. In a nutshell, a dry shampoo helps maintain the state of your hair in between washes and will ensure that your hair doesn't sit limp and oily on your head on day 2. Simply Spray, Tousle and Go!

The Klorane Dry Shampoo washes hair without water in just 2 minutes. It absorbs excess sebum and provides volume to hair in between washes, making it easier to style. This formula also comes in 2 versions, 1 with an invisible finish and another with a brown tint, catered to brunettes.

Volumizing Shampoo

When you do shampoo your locks, choosing a volumizing shampoo can help hide any thinning areas on the crown of your head. Volumizing shampoos can add fullness to the hair that you do already have. As in life, sometimes it's all about emphasizing what is already there than focusing on what isn't.

DHT Blocking Shampoos

DHT, also known as dihydrotestosterone, is the main hormone responsible for causing hair loss and baldness in men. There are several shampoos on the market that claim to block DHT. However, only a handful of ingredients have been tested and approved by the FDA to have proven results. These include: Ketoconazole, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Rosemary Oil and Saw Palmetto. Look out for these ingredients in the formula when shopping for DHT Blocking Shampoos.

A few popular, effective choices that have been highly recommended are the Ultrax Labs Hair Surge which contains ketoconazole, saw palmetto, and caffeine, and the PURA D’Or Original Anti-Thinning Shampoo, which contains pumpkin seed oil as its primary DHT blocker.

Hair Fibers

There are days however, where time is not on our side, and what we really need is a quick fix solution.

Hair fibers can come in handy during important events where you want to look extra good and feel confident. A quick sprinkle into sparse areas and a finishing spray to set the fibers in place and you’ll have a lush looking crown in the matter of minutes! Its effects typically last until the next hair wash. The Toppik system is a great place to start for its ease of use, and is also available worldwide.

Here’s a video demonstrating just how easy it is to use:

Hopefully, you’ve discovered a few new products to add to your arsenal to keep you looking and feeling your most confident.
